THE WORLD AS THE BODY OF GOD
:
EXPERIENCING EVERY DAY AS SACRED

THE YEAR END RETREAT
TOM DAVIS AND JOAN RAWLES-DAVIS
DECEMBER 27, 2002 - JANUARY 1, 2003

The world as the body of God is a metaphor for our organic unity with the universe and the Spirit.

We will spend the week attending to the many things in everyday living which can help us feel more deeply connected to ourselves, one another, and the world around us. The activities will seek to enhance our sense of interbeing -- song, dance, walking meditations (including use of the labyrinth), whole body exercises. A week focused on just paying attention.

We hope it will be a time of finding a way toward a oneness we talk about so much. We also hope you will go home with an expanded appreciation for your life and a deeper sense of connection to it.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

Cost for the week is $275, which includes program, lodging and food. Registration will be limited, everyone who registers by December 1st will have an equal chance for a spot at this retreat. You may arrive as early as 4:00 p.m. to register. The program begins with dinner around 6:00 on the 27th. Participants share in kitchen chores before and after each meal. The week concludes about 12:30 p.m. after brunch, final cleanup, and closing worship on New Years Day. Meals are vegetarian. Sleeping accommodations are first-come first-served in the Orchard Lodge (semi-private rooms near the dining hall) and are based on when your registration is received. When the Lodge is full, we will begin assigning people to the Redwood Lodge (bunk houses on the lower portion of the property). Some allowance may be made for persons with special needs. Wheelchair access is available. Bring a sleeping bag or sheets/blankets, pillow case, towel, soap, flashlight, and slippers for the Casa de Luz. NO PETS PLEASE. Scholarships are available, please ask if in need.

ABOUT THE LEADERS:

Tom Davis is a Spiritual Director whose life journey has also led him to teach, farm and be an accountant. He offers his services to meetings and retreats in Spiritual Life, Labyrinth use and Bible study. Since 1995 he has been on a more passionately aware journey leading toward awakening.

Joan Rawles-Davis has long believed in attending to the sacredness of every day. One of her definitions of prayer is simply to pay attention. She believes some of the great blessings in life come from simple things: singing, dancing, sharing food and telling our stories -- all things that take her to her core and beyond. One of her primary experiences of the sacred is through Sacred Circle Dance, which she leads in a variety of settings.
