PILGRIM'S WAY:
TREADING
THE
WALKING AND DANCING THE LABYRINTH
TOM DAVIS
OCTOBER 1 - 3, 2004
Labyrinths continue to fascinate humankind as pathways to spiritual growth and expanded ways of knowing. Join us. Together we will have the opportunity to:
There will be meditation, chanting, walking, dancing and celebration with fellow pilgrims. Two labyrinths will be available: the Classic type and a modified Chartres type.
This labyrinth workshop is returning to Quaker Center, in part, because there is now a large permanent labyrinth on the land, and Quaker Center wants to honor the gifts which have made it possible. A formal dedication will be included in the weekend.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Cost for the weekend: Sliding scale from $135 - $190. ($160 standard rate.) Additional scholarships are available; please ask if in need. Fees include program, lodging and food. You may arrive as early as 4:00 p.m. to register. The program begins with dinner around 6:00 on Friday. Participants share in kitchen chores before and after each meal. ABOUT THE WORKSHOP LEADERS:
TOM DAVIS is a Spiritual Director. He first began facilitating the use of the labyrinth after study with Lauren Artress of Veriditas (Grace Cathedral in San Francisco). Tom has facilitated labyrinth use at Pacific Yearly Meeting. He and Joan led a retreat using the labyrinth at Quaker Center in 2000. Now there is a permanent labyrinth designed by Tom for the community to use.
JOAN RAWLES-DAVIS will supplement the labyrinth experience through sacred dance. She has led dance in a wide variety of settings. For several years she was part of a sacred dance group which danced the labyrinth at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco in celebration of the winter and summer solstice.
A NOTE ABOUT OUR NEW SLIDING SCALE:
Comprehensive rate: The top of our sliding scale, covers all our direct costs for this retreat, including staff time, and those costs related to the use and long-term maintenance of the facilities.
Standard rate: Covers our direct costs, including staff time, but does not cover costs related to the use and long-term maintenance of the facilities. We hope most people will pay at least this amount.
Reduced rate: The bottom of our sliding scale, more than covers our cash expenses for the program, but does not fully cover staff costs.
Quaker Center's policy is to refuse no one access to our programs because of lack of funds. As always, additional scholarship support is available. Please ask if you are in need.
